Dingo is a young dog who was left badly injured in a park in Sarajevo one grey weekend in November 2012. Our members were alerted by good people and called in to help. Ding could not get up, when he tried he just fell back crying. Our friends in Sarajevo are not trained veterinarians but by helping defend-less animals they learned basics of first aid and examination. Based on their assessment both legs are injured in the region of femur. There are no emergency veterinarians in Sarajevo on weekends and the only thing we could do was to feed him, to give him a baby pain killer medication and try to build a little shelter. The association's volunteers took Dingo to the vet after the weekend who confirmed fractures of the pelvis . We knew: If in a safe place Dingo could quickly recover. If not, he will not survive on the street. The life in the streets with 5000 abandoned and street dogs, bad people and heavy traffic is hard to survive even for absolutely healthy dogs. Unfortunately, those who are weak stand no chance... Our funds were empty and we could only cover costs of the emergency treatment. We asked for help www.clicanimaux.com and, in a record time, number of good people mobilized and collected money for the vet, vaccines and a month in a pension! While Dingo was laying in the park an other dog (Ringo) was guarding him. People from the neighbourhood told us they were brothers. When we took Dingo, Ringo was crying and we saw that he limps as well. We could not leave him on the street alone so we took him to the vet as well. And yes, his is broken too (not so badly as Dingo's but significantly). Vets put bones in the correct positions and prescribed rest and minimal movement till bones heal for both of them.
